  • Gordon Rose Memorial Art Auction

The community is invited to celebrate the life and work of local artist Gordon Rose while supporting the Grimsby Public Art Gallery through the Gordon Rose Memorial Art Auction.

Organized by Gordon’s son, Phil Rose, the online auction features a special collection of Gordon’s original artwork, with proceeds supporting the Grimsby Public Art Gallery. The collection includes works in watercolour, pastel, acrylic, scratchboard and photography, with many pieces inspired by Gordon’s love of nature, animals and the world around him.

A longtime Grimsby resident, community volunteer and former President of the Grimsby Lakeside Pump House Artists, Gordon left a lasting legacy through both his community service and his art.

Bidding is now open and closes Friday, November 6, 2026, at 5 p.m

  • Farmerettes Plaque Unveiling and Film Screening

Please join the Ontario Heritage Trust — hosted by the Town of Lincoln — as we unveil a provincial plaque to honour the Farmerettes. The plaque will be permanently installed following the ceremony.

This plaque commemorates a unique group of young women called the Farmerettes. From 1941-52, an estimated 40,000 young women, aged 16-18, from across Ontario’s secondary schools and beyond joined the Farmerette Brigade to perform essential seasonal agricultural work. They were central to food security at a critical moment and made significant contributions to the agricultural sector of the provincial economy.

We invite you to attend the film screening of We Lend a Hand at 1 p.m. The multi-award-winning 50-minute documentary captures the story of the Farmerettes. Film tickets must be purchased in advance.
