    Do you love making Granny Squares, but don’t know what to do with them? Or maybe you'd like to learn how to make fun new designs? Well, you're in luck!

    Participate in our Community Quilt Project, running from January 15 to March 15th. Simply bring in your 5" x 5" granny squares to add to our community-made quilt to any branch. When completed, the finished Granny Square Quilt will be donated to the Dialysis Unit at Welland Hospital, as a heartfelt gift from our community—stitching together comfort, colour, and care.

    Everyone is welcome to join us as we present Sara Nixon, Director of Community Engagement at The Brown Homestead as she shares the presentation "Secrets of Short Hills"

    The wild ruggedness of the Short Hills is rich in history spanning millennia, and offers a unique lens into the story of Niagara. Join Sara Nixon of The Brown Homestead to discover the surprising stories hidden in its hills, valleys and waterways. We’ll uncover clues to early industry and settlement, attempts to build a military fortress, the dramatic 1838 raid led by cross-border rebels and lots more.

    Sara Nixon is the Director of Community Engagement at The Brown Homestead. Raised in Grimsby, Sara grew up fascinated with the local history that surrounded her. She earned a Masters degree in Public History at Carleton University and has built a career in the museum and heritage fields over the past decade. Sara also currently serves as Chair of the Grimsby Heritage Advisory Committee.

    Brighten up your space with a new plant to love!

    Browse a variety of indoor houseplants. Get matched with one that best suits your personality and lifestyle to take home. (One free plant per household while supplies last.)

    LPPL needs donations of healthy houseplants, if you have any leafy friends that need a new home or baby plants to share. Rooted is preferred, but cuttings are welcome. The library is also looking for donations of pots or vases.

  • Happy Days Sanctuary Adoption Event

    Looking to add a feline companion to your family? Drop by Happy Days Sanctuary on March 14. We have several cats/ kittens awaiting adoption.

    PLUS: our dedicated team of volunteers are baking up a storm with some delicious baked goods. Purdy's chocolate bars will also be available for purchase. ALL monies raised go towards the care of the animals at Happy Days Sanctuary.

  • Whiskey Tasting at Navy Hall

    The Friends of Fort George in partnership with Forty Creek Distilleries is hosting the sixth annual whisky tasting event at Historic Navy Hall, hosted by Forty Creek North American Brand Ambassador, Chris Thompson. Paired with extensive Hors D’hoeuvres, there will be several different award winning Forty Creek whisky samples provided. Come and relax by the warm fire at Navy Hall, and enjoy a unique evening of food, drink, whisky education and merriment.
